On June 29 in Jakarta, Yili Group, the largest dairy producer in Asia, received a Special Award at the 2022 Bisnis Indonesia Corporate Social Responsibility Awards (BISRA). Yili Indonesia, which produces Joyday Ice Cream, was named “The Most Collaborative Food and Beverage Company in Accelerating Vaccination & Covid-19 Response”.

Creating greater value for society

The award recognizes Yili’s commitment to consistently and sustainably supporting the Government of Indonesia in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic through various programs and activities.

“Yili is committed to social activities – spanning from combating the Covid-19 pandemic and supporting the economic recovery to caring for children and vulnerable groups – which benefit the public and demonstrate Yili’s compassion,” the organizing committee for BISRA commented.

“We express our gratitude to all parties who have engaged in and supported Yili’s public benefit activities to win the big award. We will continue to create greater value for all of them,” said Yu Miao, President Director of PT Yili Indonesia Dairy, at the ceremony.

BISRA is co-organized by Indonesia’s Ministry of National Development Planning, Habitat for Humanity Indonesia and Bisnis Indonesia. A joint review committee was established by the three parties to evaluate the sustainability, scope, social impact, and public feedback of companies’ CSR programs.

Honoring social responsibilities for local communities

Guided by its New Vision for Value Creation, Yili has been committed to honoring its social responsibilities. In Indonesia, the company has implemented 12 assistance programs to help the country to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, donating over 100,000 face masks, 600,000 ice cream products and other medical and daily supplies, such as isolation gowns and protective goggles, to local residents. Millions of people have benefited from these public welfare activities.

While providing healthy products for Indonesian consumers, Yili is also contributing to local economic development by engaging with its upstream and downstream partners. The company has introduced a series of preferential and subsidy policies targeting local dealers to boost their revenues and donated a large number of refrigerator boxes and ice cream carts to create more job opportunities and support the local economic recovery.

In December 2021, Yili was invited by Indonesia’s Ministry of Investment to participate in the country’s economic revitalization plan aimed at creating new opportunities for MSME businesses. That same month, the Yili Indonesia Dairy Production Base was put into operation, enabling more local partners to engage with Yili’s global network and benefit from its win-win results.

Yili is also gaining popularity among Indonesian consumers. As one of the top five ice cream brands (by market share) in Indonesia, Joyday ice creams are sold throughout more than 300 cities, covering all the country’s 34 provinces. They can also be found in Myanmar, Singapore, the Philippines, Vietnam, and other countries and regions.
